No. 11 Clayton State rebounds with 7-2 victory over in-state rival North Georgia

MORROW, Ga. – April 7, 2012 – The Clayton State Laker women's tennis team regained its winning form on Saturday with a key 7-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over in-state rival North Georgia at Laker Courts.

The victory was the second in the last three matches for Clayton State, which is ranked 11th in the nation in Division II. The Lakers are now 7-10 overall and 6-4 in the Peach Belt. North Georgia falls to 6-13 overall and 1-7 in the Peach Belt.

Clayton State won five of six matches in singles and two of three in doubles. North Georgia's only two victories came by default. Marie Cercelletti (No. 1), Martina Dedaj (No. 2), Charlotte Fabricius (No. 3), Jessica Budd (No. 4) and Alyze' Pagal (No. 5) each won in straight sets for the Lakers. Budd and Dedaj (No. 1) and Cercelletti and Fabricius (No. 2) prevailed in doubles for Clayton State.

Clayton State hits the road next weekend at Francis Marion on Saturday (April 14) and UNC Pembroke on Sunday (April 15).
