Clayton State women win twice in RYSA College Spring Tournament

CONYERS, Ga. – March 24, 2012 – Fresh off its first winning season in three years, the Clayton State Laker women's soccer team got its spring workouts off to a good start on Saturday with two impressive victories at the RYSA College Spring Tournament.

The Lakers won two games against Division I competition – a 2-0 shutout over Wofford and a 3-1 victory over Presbyterian.

"The girls have been working very hard this spring," said Clayton State head coach Gareth O'Sullivan. "I thought our fitness was good considering our small squad size."

Natalia Valentine accounted for all five Clayton State goals. The two-time All-Peach Belt Conference performer scored twice against Wofford, including one off an assist by Luisa Alvarez. Valentine then recorded the hat trick against Presbyterian off assists from Alvarez, Becky Brown and Jennifer Dreasler

The Lakers play another spring contest this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Division I Kennesaw State at Laker Field.
