Clayton State women maintain No. 4 ranking in USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll

LILBURN, Ga. – February 14, 2012 –
The Clayton State Laker women's basketball team maintained its No. 4 national ranking for the second straight week in the new USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 poll released on Tuesday.

Clayton State (22-2, 12-1 Peach Belt Conference) received 687 points in this week's poll - 20 points behind No. 3-ranked Wayne State (23-2). The Lakers lead No. 5 Ashland (22-1) by 24 points. Clayton State won twice last week - an 81-56 victory at Georgia College on Tuesday, and a 65-59 triumph at North Georgia on Saturday.

Clayton State is one of three Peach Belt Conference teams ranked this week. USC Aiken (19-3, 12-2 PBC) is ranked 13th, up two spots from No. 15, while Lander (18-4, 13-1 PBC) drops one spot from No. 17 to No. 18.

Cal-San Diego (24-0) maintained its No. 1 ranking for a sixth straight week, while Edinboro (22-0) stayed No. 2 for a third straight week. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 is Bentley (21-3) at No. 6, Metro State (21-2) at No. 7, Pittsburg State (22-2) at No. 8, Rollins (19-3) at No. 9 and Fort Lewis (19-3) at No. 10.

Clayton State is back in action again with two key Peach Belt contests this week - Wednesday at Georgia Southwestern and Saturday at home against Columbus State.
