ROME, Ga. – Clayton State men's track & field delivered multiple top-notch performances and posted a 10-of-21 finish on Day 2 of the Berry Invitational on Saturday, April 7.
Junior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) led Clayton State as he won the 800-meters ahead of 53 other competitors and just missed equaling his personal best with a time of 1:53.23. Senior
Rafael Salis (Atlanta, Ga.) followed closely behind in third place with a mark of 1:56.64.

Chris Florence (Newnan. Ga.) and
Tyler Askew (Columbus, Ga.) combined to deliver another first-place finish as they notched a 1-of-13 finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:24.20.
The latter two individuals would add impressive individual performances as well. Competing in the 200-meters, Florence produced a 4-of-45 outing with a personal best of 21.79 and followed that with a 10-of-52 performance in the 100-meters (11.00). Askew delivered a strong showing in the 400-meters as he finished 4-of-44 with a time of 50.43.
Freshman
Riley Higginbotham (Locust Grove, Ga.) finished 6-of-13 in the 3,000-meters at 10:51.38 while sophomore
Jason Dang (Gainesville, Ga.) followed with a ninth-place outing (12:04.80). Sophomore
Keldren Reddick (Thomasville, Ga.) added a 15-of-54 finish in the 800-meters with a time of 2:01.64 to round out the top performers.
The Lakers will be back in action April 19-21 as they head to Pembroke, North Carolina for the Peach Belt Conference Championship.
