ROME, Ga. – Sophomore
Lynnet Kosgei (Eldoret, Kenya) delivered a stellar performance as she broke the program record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Clayton State wrapped up Day 2 of the Berry Invitational on Saturday, April 7. As a team, they delivered a 5-of-21 finish.
Kosgei notched a time of 13:34.05 to surpass the previous record of 13:35.08 set by Kourtney Aylor in 2010. That outing earned her an 11-of-13 finish.
Sophomore
Bianca Kamara (Lilburn, Ga.) continued to lead the Lakers as she spearheaded a sweep of the top three spots in the long jump, coming in with a mark of 5.12-meters. Not far behind, freshman
Dalania Clardy (Riverdale, Ga.) notched a runner up performance with a personal best of 5.07-meters and was followed by junior
Destiny Johnson (New Iberia, La.) with a 3-of-32 finish (5.07).
Sophomore
Shockera Betty (Tallahassee, Fla.) added an eighth place finish to round out that event (4.89m).Johnson followed her impressive performance as she doubled down with a third-place finish in the high jump at 1.53-meters.
In the 100-meters, sophomore
Nia Elmore (Hinesville, Ga.) delivered a fourth-place finish with a time of 12.42 and was was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that delivered a 2-of-11 finish with time of 4:10.99. That group included sophomore
Jasmine Radford (Lawrenceville, Ga.), junior
Sierra Glenn (Riverdale, Ga.) and freshman
Chaviya Jackson (Albany, Ga.).
Individually, Radford produced a 5-of-47 finish in the 200-meters with a personal best of 25.53 while Jackson followed closely behind in eighth (26.06). Glenn added to the list of noteworthy performances with an 8-of-42 finish in the 400-meters and a personal best of 1:00.88.
Additionally, junior
Jhade Hayes (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) delivered a pair of strong outings in the throws. She finished 10th in the discus with a personal best of 34.44-meters followed by a 19-of-30 finish in the shot put (9.62m).
The Lakers are now off until April 19-21 when they head to Pembroke, North Carolina for the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
