Witherspoon and Polk Lead Clayton State Men’s Track & Field at Dunamis Super Meet

EMERSON, Ga. – Juniors T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) and Ryan Polk (Marietta, Ga.) led the way as Clayton State men's track and field placed in multiple events in the Dunamis Super Meet on Friday, February 9. Held in Emerson, Georgia, it was the first indoor track meet held within the State of Georgia in 18 years.
 
Witherspoon had one of the Lakers top performances, notching a 3-of-19 finish in the 800-meters with a time of 1:56.27. Polk added to those as he finished 3-of-15 in the 3,000-meters (9:11.54) while sophomore Evan Ortiz (McDonough, Ga.) was not far behind, finishing 7-of-15 with a time of 9:27.55 in that event.
 
In the high jump, senior Andrew Omoregbe (Stockbridge, Ga.) notched a runner up outing in a field of seven as he finished with a distance of 1.90 meters. He followed that up with a 17-of-28 performance in the 60-meters with a time of 7.31, while senior Adarion Watson (Stockbridge, Ga.) put in effort to lead the Lakers in that event delivering a 10-of-28 (7.12).
 
Sophomore Tyler Askew (Columbus, Ga.) finished with a pair of strong performances, coming in 9-of-34 in the 400-meters (50.75) and 19-of-43 in the 200-meters (22.91).
 
The Lakers return to action on Sunday, February 25 as they head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to compete in the JDL Last Chance Meet. Outside of any qualifiers for the NCAA Division II Championships, this will close out the indoor season.
