Carla Catala (Barcelona, Spain) delivered a strong performance to pace Clayton State women's cross country at the VSU Border Clash on Friday, September 1. As a unit, the Lakers totaled 138 points to finish 6-of-8.

Catala posted a time of 19:46.30 over the 5k course to finish 12-of-82 while junior
Lynnet Kosgei (Gillette, Wyo.) was 22
nd with a mark of 20:30.10. Senior
Joy Diaz was 39
th at 21:17.00 and junior
Ariel Boyd-Ghani (Morrow, Ga.) placed 52-of-82 (22:23.90).

Rounding out the top five scoring performances was senior
Hailey Budd (Hartwell, Ga.) with a 66
th place finish and time of 24:55.10.

Tampa claimed the team title with 39 points and Georgia College was a distant second at 72 points.

Clayton State returns to the course when they travel to Augusta, Georgia on Saturday, September 9. That day they will compete in the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational with start time set for 9 a.m.
