VALDOSTA, Ga. – Clayton State men's cross country notched a 5-of-7 finish at the season opening VSU Border Clash on Friday, September 1, compiling 138 points from their top five runners.
Junior
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) led that group as he finished 29-of-69 with a time of 21:00.70. He was joined by sophomore
Evan Ortiz in 36
th (21:24.20) and junior
Ryan Polk (Marietta, Ga.) in 38
th with a time of 21:28.80.
Rounding out the team scoring were sophomore
Keldren Reddick (Thomasville, Ga.) in 39
th at 21:37.70 and freshman
Zach Czerniak (Suwanee, Ga.) in 46
th (21:55.00).
Georgia College claimed the team championship with a total of 32 points while Tampa was second with 36.
Clayton State is back in action on Saturday, September 9 when they head to Augusta, Georgia for the Jaguar Cross Country Invitational. That race will begin at 8:15 a.m.
