AUGUSTA, Ga. – Four Clayton State student-athletes have been recognized for their academic accomplishments as they have been named to the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Women's Track & Field All-Academic Teams.
 
Sophomore Hailey Budd (Hartwell, Ga.), senior Joy Diaz (Riverdale, Ga.) and juniors Iciar Duran (Madrid, Spain) and Kimberley Zahm (Bethlehem, Ga.) have each been named to the All-Academic team.
 
Budd is undecided on a major while Diaz is a Theatre major and Duran and Zahm are marketing and Psychology and Human Services majors. They are among 54 honorees in the Peach Belt.
 
All four have earned their first such awards for track & field but each already owns one such honor. Budd, Diaz and Zahm have each collected one in cross country and Duran earned All-Academic honors during the women's soccer season in the fall.
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
 
The Peach Belt Conference Women's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State returns to action when they head to the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday, May 6.
