AUGUSTA, Ga. – Clayton State men's track & field has once again had a student-athlete named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team.
Â
Sophomore
T.J. Witherspoon (Thomasville, Ga.) earned this honor for the first time he was eligible for it during his career. He is a Clayton State Presidential Scholar who is majoring in Biology and is among just 28 such honorees in the PBC this season.
Â
A two-year member of the Lakers track & field program, Witherspoon has set multiple personal bests this season, including in the 800- and 1,500-meters. He has also recorded three top five performances during the outdoor season.
Â
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
Â
The Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State returns to action when they head to the Tennessee Challenge on Saturday, May 6.
