Clayton State's Manoly Baquerizo Earns All-Peach Belt Conference Second-Team Honors

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Sophomore defender Manoly Baquerizo (Guayaquil, Ecuador) has been named an All-Peach Belt Conference Second-Team selection following an impressive 2017 season.

Listed as a defender throughout the year, Baquerizo's play on the offensive end merited her nomination for All-Conference in the midfield category. On the year she produced seven goals and four assists for 18 points while playing in all 15 games.

She accomplished that while playing 1,115 minutes and starting 12 contests. Among her individual game highlights was a career game against Georgia Southwestern (10/11) in which she delivered a personal best three goals. She also notched a pair of assists at Truett-McConnell (9/8) and a goal and an assist at Francis Marion (9/30).

Perhaps her most impressive accomplishment, however, came in a game that was not even on the schedule at the start of the year. On September 10, in a game scheduled as a result of Hurricane Irma, Baquerizo scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Division I The Citadel at Laker Field. It was the first home victory over a DI opponent.

She becomes the 44th overall All-PBC selection and extends a stretch of 17 straight years that Clayton State has had at least one player selected to the All-Peach Belt Conference Team.
