NEW ORLEANS, La. – Following the close of the NCAA Division II regular season, a total of four Clayton State outdoor track & field student-athletes have combined for five United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Southeast Region honors as announced by that organization on Tuesday, May 18.

For the women's program, graduate
Maia Kuhnen (Trier, Germany) picked up a pair of honors in the 800- and 1,500-meters while seniors
Jessica Matthews (Monroe, Ga.) and
Crystal Nelson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were recognized in the triple jump and 800-meters, respectively. On the men's side, junior
Rafael Salis (Atlanta, Ga.) earned All-Southeast Region recognition in the 800-meters.

Each earned All-Region honors during the indoor season, with Kuhnen also notching a pair in the mile and 3,000-meters. Between indoor and outdoor recognition, Kuhnen now has 10 All-Region selections to her credit with Matthews and Nelson each following with five. Salis now has five All-Region honors.

In order to earn All-Region recognition, an individual has to either finish in the top five in their region in individual events or be a member of a relay team ranked in the region's top three.

Mike Mead. "Maia and Jessica are four-time All-Region recipients for outdoors while Rafael picks up his third All-Region honor and Crystal is a repeat recipient in the 800-meters. All are well-deserving."
