MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Sophomore
Carla Catala (Barcelona, Spain) led the way with a 51
st place finish as Clayton State women's cross country placed 23
rd at the 2016 NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championship on Saturday, November 5.

Catala posted a time of 23:30.33 to finish 51-of-182, besting her previous 6k mark of 24:26.9 set earlier this season at the Bobcat Invitational (9/10). She was followed by sophomore
Ariel Boyd-Ghani (Morrow, Ga.) in 85
th with a time of 24:35.04.

For Catala, it represents her best finish at an NCAA Regional, surpassing her 147
th place finish in 2015 when she was with American International at the East Region Championship.

Freshman
Aurianna Worrell (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was 139
th (26:14.42) with junior
Hailey Budd (Hartwell, Ga.) finishing 149
th (26:35.16). Junior
Carolina Monterrubio (Mexico City, Mexico) rounded out the scoring with a 165
th place finish with a time of 27:34.69 and junior
Kimberley Zahm wrapped up the meet in 170
th (28:17.20).

Clayton State closes out the 2016 season with their 20
th consecutive appearance in an NCAA Division II Regional dating to their first year of NCAA competition in 1997.
