Clayton State Captains King and Smith Earn First All-PBC Honors; Selected to Second-Team

2016 All-Conference Teams I History of All-Conference Selections

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Junior midfielder Ryan King (County Durham, England) and graduate forward Iain Smith (Suwanee, Ga.) have each been selected to the 2016 Peach Belt Conference Second-Team following an impressive season.

In his first season in the Orange & Blue, King delivered a tremendous performance, finishing with a team-high 12 goals along with three assists for 27 points. That goal total included a pair of three goal outings as well as going 2-for-2 on penalty kick attempts. Among Peach Belt Conference players he ranked in a tie for third in goals and was fourth in points.

Smith produced another impressive campaign in his final season, finishing with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. He scored in seven games on the year while recording at least one point in nine games. That included a pair of goals and an assist in a 3-1 win at Auburn-Montgomery (9/14) and a goal and an assist vs. Barry (9/3) and USC-Aiken (10/22).

Both players were leaders for the Lakers as they served as team captains throughout the year. It is the first All-Peach Belt Conference selection for both.

King and Smith drive the Lakers all-time All-PBC selection total to 52. Their selection also extends a stretch of 17 straight years dating back to 2000 that Clayton State has had at least one player selected to the All-Peach Belt Conference Team. It is the 15th time they have had multiple selections in a year.
