ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Graduate midfielder
Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) continues to cement her career as one of the finest in Clayton State Athletics history as she has been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region First-Team on Tuesday, November 16.
Â
It is her third time being named to the D2CCA First-Team, which is a program record. She has also accomplished the feat in three consecutive years and accounts for half of the program's six First-Team selections. It also represents the fifth straight year, and sixth time in seven years, Clayton State women's soccer has had at least one individual named to the team.
Â
Marti Bartis finished 2016 with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points and finished her career with 37 goals, 18 assists and 92 points in just three seasons. She is third all-time in program history in goals scored and points and this year became the first Laker soccer player, men's or women's, to score double-digit goals in three consecutive seasons. That encompassed a total of 47 seasons of Clayton State soccer.
Â
For her efforts she has already been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year, All-PBC First-Team and PBC Player of the Week (10/3). She is the sixth Player of the Year in team history and one of just four individuals to be named All-Conference for three or more years. The last two of the latter have been at the First-Team level.
Â
Additionally, Marti Bartis has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for a second straight year and is now eligible for her second Academic All-America honor later this month.
Â
She is just one of 14 selections all-time and joins Alicia Robinson (2013),
Denisha Paskell (2013) and Olaitan Yusuf (2007) as the only other First-Team honorees in program history.
Â
With her selection to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First-Team, Marti Bartis is one of 13 players in the region that will now be eligible for D2CCA All-American Honors. The 2016 D2CCA All-American Team will be announced on Wednesday, November 30.
Â
NOTE: Prior to 2015, the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Team was title sponsored by Daktronics.
