AUGUSTA, Ga. – Three Clayton State student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom as they have been named to the 2016 Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic Team.
 
Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Jessica Charman (Harefield, England) led the way with a 3.90 GPA in Communication and Media Studies while graduate midfielder Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) posted a 3.80 while pursuing a Masters in Health Administration. Junior forward Iciar Duran (Madrid, Spain) rounded out the team with a 3.58 in Marketing.
 
For both Charman and Marti Bartis, it is their second time earning All-Academic honors. It is the first such recognition for Duran in her first year of eligibility.
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
 
The Peach Belt Conference is home to 36 NCAA Division II National Championships, 14 institutions spanning from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama sponsors championships in 15 sports. Each year prior to those sports championships, the PBC recognizes the academic accomplishments of the league's student-athletes.
 
Clayton State women's soccer is back in action on Wednesday, November 2 when they travel to UNC Pembroke for a PBC Quarterfinal. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
