Clayton State Basketball to Host Military Appreciation Day Matinee on Martin Luther King Day

MORROW, Ga. – In conjunction with the Clayton State Veterans Resource Center, Laker Athletics will celebrate Military Appreciation Day with a special matinee basketball double-header on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 18.

Clayton State will host UNC Pembroke in a men's and women's basketball double-header beginning at a special holiday start time of 1:30 p.m. at The Loch. The women come into the game ranked No. 22 in the country and with a 13-1 overall record and 7-0 league mark that has them atop the Peach Belt Conference standings while the men deliver an entertaining brand of basketball not to be missed.

As part of the day's festivities, the first 100 current or former members of the military through the door will receive Laker themed dog tags. In addition to this memento, every member of the military (veterans, active, spouses, military affiliated) will receive one complimentary admission for that day's double-header.

Along with being treated to a pair of Clayton State basketball games, the day will also feature patriotic and military themed music celebrating the five branches of the United States Military – Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. There will also be multiple in-game recognition of Clayton State students, faculty and staff who are current or former military.

Don't miss your opportunity to not only enjoy a pair of great games on a national holiday, but to recognize the men and women who have served the United States of America bravely and honorably.
