Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field All-Academic Team Release

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Approaching the league championships, a pair of Clayton State men's track & field student-athletes have been named to the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field All-Academic Teams.

Junior Norman Cervantes (Doraville, Ga.) and sophomore Troy Hickom (Cartersville, Ga.) earned this prestigious honor for the Lakers. Cervantes is majoring in psychology while Hickom is majoring in engineering. They are among just 22 such honorees in the Peach Belt.

"This is a nice honor for Norman and Troy," said head track & field coach Mike Mead. "Both have worked hard in the classroom and on the track this season. Troy was also selected to the PBC All-Academic team in cross country this past fall."

In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.

The Peach Belt Conference Men's Track & Field Academic All-Conference Teams are released near the close of the regular season each year and prior to the conference championship. Clayton State returns to action when they head to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Sea Ray Relays on April 10-11.
