NSCAA All-Southeast Region ReleaseÂ
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fourth straight year, and sixth time in the last seven years, Clayton State women's soccer has had at least one individual named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Team with a pair of selections as announced by that organization on Thursday, December 3.
Â
Junior defender
Siobhan Wilson (Essex, England) earned Second-Team honors in her first year as a Laker and senior midfielder
Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) collected her second straight recognition as she was named to the Third-Team.
Â
A newcomer to NCAA Division II this year, Wilson delivered an impressive campaign that saw her finish with a team-best seven assists. She also added a pair of goals for 11 points while serving as one of the team's top defenders.
Â
Following the close of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, she ranked third in the league and 40
th in NCAA Division II in total assists and was an All-PBC First-Team choice. It is her second All-Region honor this season as she was named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Third-Team.
Â
For Marti Bartis, it is her second consecutive season being named NSCAA All-Region, following a Third-Team selection a year ago. She becomes the fourth individual in program history to earn multiple selections and trails only Clayton State Athletics Hall of Famer Nkiru Okosieme, who collected three All-Region selections (2001, 2002, 2004).
Â
This season she delivered 11 goals and three assists for 25 points while scoring in 10-of-18 games. Included among that impressive stretch was a string of six straight games with at least one goal from September 11-30.
Â
In addition to the NSCAA honor, Marti Bartis has also been named a CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team and Academic All-District along with D2CCA First-Team All-Region. She was also an All-PBC First-Team and All-Academic selection. Her Academic All-America honor is just the second in Clayton State Athletics history and is the highest academic award ever earned by a Laker student-athlete.
Â
With their selections, Marti Bartis and Wilson are among just 16 total NSCAA All-Region honorees in program history, a number that includes just 12 individuals dating back to the first such honor in 1999. Overall, the Lakers have had at least one selection 12 times over that span.
