AUGUSTA, Ga. – With the regular season drawn to a close and the postseason upon us, five Clayton State student-athletes were recognized for their tremendous efforts in the classroom as well as on the field as they were named to 2015 Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday, November 4.
 
Leading the way for the Lakers was senior and Health Administration major Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain), who has achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following her, with a GPA of 3.84, was redshirt-sophomore and Communication and Media Studies major Jessica Charman (Denham, England).
 
Wrapping up the honorees for the Lakers were seniors Lara Moehlmann (Bremen, Germany), Tamaki Onuma (Tokyo, Japan) and Charlotte McCormack (Wexford, Ireland), who are majoring in General Studies, Health Administration and Marketing, respectively.
 
In order to qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, student-athletes must have been at their institution for one calendar year, have achieved a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale and competed in at least 50-percent of their sport as a significant contributor. The GPA is calculated through the previous semester.
 
The Peach Belt Conference is home to 35 NCAA Division II National Championships, 14 institutions spanning from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama sponsors championships in 15 sports. Each year prior to those sports championships, the PBC recognizes the academic accomplishments of the league's student-athletes.
