2015 D2CCA All-Southeast Region ReleaseÂ
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – For the fourth straight year, and fifth time in six years, Clayton State women's soccer has had at least one individual named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Team with a pair of selections as announced by that organization on Monday, November 30.
Â
Senior midfielder
Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) garnered First-Team honors for the second straight year while junior defender
Siobhan Wilson (Essex, England) was named to the Second-Team in her first year with the Lakers.
Â
Marti Bartis becomes the first Clayton State player to earn a pair of First-Team honors following a tremendous senior season. This year she produced 11 goals and three assists for 25 points while scoring in 10-of-18 games, including six straight from September 11-30.
Â
Additionally, she has also been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District and First-Team All-America, the latter being just the second in the history of Laker Athletics, and was an All-PBC First-Team and All-Academic selection.
Â
Wilson becomes the 13
th overall D2CCA All-Region selection in team history. That comes following a year that saw her finish with a team-high seven assists along with two goals and 11 points as a defender. She ranked third in the league and 40
th in NCAA Division II in total assists following the close of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and was an All-PBC First-Team choice.
Â
Historically, Clayton State's two selections trails only the five individuals named in 2013 and ties the mark for the second most in program history, the latter coming following last season. The only other Laker other than Marti Bartis to earn a pair of D2CCA All-Region honors since its inception in 2004 is Olaitan Yusuf in 2005 and 2007.
Â
With her selection to the All-Southeast Region First-Team, Marti Bartis is one of 13 players in the region that will now be eligible for D2CCA All-American Honors. Last season, she was named a Second-Team All-American.
Â
NOTE: Prior to 2015, the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Team was title sponsored by Daktronics.
