Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week Release
 
AUGUSTA, Ga. – With just one opportunity on the week, senior goalkeeper Charlotte McCormack (Wexford, Ireland) made the most of it as she earned her program record fifth Peach Belt Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor as announced by the league on Monday, November 2.
 
With just one game on the schedule, McCormack turned away a season-high tying nine shots at Young Harris (10/28) to earn a 1-1 tie in 110 minutes of work. On the week, that gave her a 0.82 goals against average as she finished the regular season with an 8-7-1 overall record.
 
The tie also provided a critical point for the Lakers, who earned the sixth seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Armstrong State for a Peach Belt Conference Quarterfinal. Earlier this season they defeated the Pirates 3-1 in Savannah, Georgia and, had McCormack not come up big, Clayton State would have been heading to No. 8 Columbus State to open the postseason instead.
 
Since the PBC split the Player of the Week honor into three awards beginning in 2008, McCormack has been recognized a program record five times as Goalkeeper of the Week. She claimed three awards in 2013 (Sept. 23, Oct. 14, Oct. 21) and a fourth in 2014 (Sept. 29). The only other Laker to earn the award is Laoise O'Driscoll, doing so twice in 2011 (Oct. 11, Oct. 18).
 
This season she joins senior midfielder Maria Marti Bartis (Girona, Spain) as the only other Clayton State player to earn a weekly award. Marti Bartis has been named Player of the Week twice (Sept. 21, Oct. 19).
 
Overall the program has claimed a total of 36 weekly honorees from Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week. In 2007, the Peach Belt went from recognizing just one individual to honoring two per week and three weekly starting in 2008.
 
McCormack and Clayton State return to action on Tuesday, November 3 when they head to No. 3 seed Armstrong State (11-3-3, 7-1-3 PBC) for a PBC Quarterfinal. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in Savannah, Georgia.
